"We practice ritual everyday, brushing our hair and washing our face is a form of ritual..."

When we wanted to do an episode on The Zone, I really wanted to get a well-known athlete to participate, so it when another guest told me that she knew Canadian Hockey great Carl Brewer, I was thrilled. Being an American, I must admit that the only pro hockey player that I had heard of was Wayne Gretsky, but everybody on my crew knew who he was! Carl explains in this episode that hitting the zone became very natural to him and for him it was when he got to a point of feeling no pain down on the ice. It was a true pleasure to meet Carl and he will be truly missed. Carl passed away suddenly in October of 2001.

Shannon Thunderbird is an amazing Shimshian woman who believes that ritual is something that we incorporate in our daily lives. Shannon explained that we practice ritual everyday, brushing our hair and washing our face is a form of ritual. She also talked to me about indigenous people and how they keep their sacred rituals alive by teaching their children and passing the information down from generation to generation. There are many tools that are associated with sacred ritual. The drum and shaker are used in the dance ritual still practiced by the Shimshian people today.

Dowsing is an age old concept that, according to Gary Skillen has been around for thousands and thousands of years.
